Air France and KLM are launching their first Design contest for the young designers of tomorrow.

Students and young graduates from design schools in France, the Netherlands, Belgium, England, Switzerland and Italy have been invited to redesign the concepts of meal trays and associated tableware (plates, containers, glasses and cutlery) which will be used in Affaires, Premium Voyageur and Voyageur (economy class) on Air France and KLM’s medium and long-haul flights.

The judges’ decision in choosing the winning projects will be based on various criteria, such as concept creativity and originality, a pleasing design, the integration of environmental constraints and technical and economic relevance.

The 1st prize is 2 roundtrip tickets on an A380 and 3,000 euros. The jury, made up of managers from Air France, KLM and Servair, Alain Doré, Chairman of Brandimage, Air France KLM’s brand agency, will be chaired by Noé Dufauchour-Lawrence, the designer of Air France’s airport lounges in Tokyo and Johannesburg.

The twofold objective of this contest is to give young European designers the opportunity to show off their talent and to discover new innovative concepts which are suitable for Air France and KLM.

“Air France and KLM have always worked with prestigious and famous designers. For our new inflight service, we are looking for creative ideas from young European talent”, declared Patrick Roux, Executive Vice President Marketing at Air France KLM.
