Calendar Event Description |
Since the 400's, the 29th of September has been dedicated to Archangel Michael and later to all the angels. If the date falls on a weekday, it is celebrated the very next Sunday.
The Finnish Lutheran Church has only this one day dedicated to angels. In the 1500's, Martin Luther was emphasizing the Archangel Michael's Day as a pedagogical chance to teach worshippers the Christian opinion about angels. In the Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Archangel Michael's day has also been celebrated as a day of the children and the Sunday school work.
